Harvey Joseph Austin Jr.

Born on 1-30-1927. He was born in Buffalo, NY. He was accomplished in the area of the Arts. He later died on 3-21-1988.

Harvey Joseph Austin, Jr., a native of Buffalo, was born on January 30, 1927. He was the son of Harvey Sr. and Ethel Austin. He had four siblings, Joyce, Emma, Carol and Eugene. Austin attended the Buffalo Public Schools. As a musician, he played trumpet with several local bands. His musical ability was well known throughout the community. He traveled with the Royal American Shows and later played trumpet for the Roosevelt Sykes orchestra.

Harvey entered into military service in 1945. He served his country diligently and was honorably discharged in 1955. During his career he participated in the re-enactment of the flag-raising on Iwo Jima by playing the trumpet for the ceremony. After his discharge he was employed by the United States Military as an administrator of directors of data processing for the United States Army. He served in that capacity until his death.
Harvey was married to Junko Austin with whom he had two children, Lisa and Kristopher. He also had two children, Michael and Anthony, with his late wife, Minoru.

Austin died on March 21, 1988 at Yokosuka Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan.
