David James Verser was a native of Gilbert, Louisiana who moved to Buffalo around 1939. He was a longtime employee of National Aniline Company. He was married to Ernestine Williams on June 27, 1953, his second marriage. He had two children from a prior marriage and three children from his marriage to Ms. Williams.
Verser was a heavy weight amateur boxer who won the Illinois Golden Gloves Championship in 1937. He had several matches after moving to Buffalo winning all until he met Cyclone Willams.
Verser was a World War II veteran.
He was 48 years old when he died and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY.
