Mary Louise Broome, the second daughter of Rev Simone W. Broome, Sr. and Lillie Ray Broome was born on August 15, 1904 in Jackson, Tennesee. Her early education was in Memphis, Tennessee, culminating with a Masters Degree in Sociology from Fisk, University in Nashville.
While teaching in Williamson, West Virginia, she met and married Dan Acker on December 26, 1935. This beautiful union lasted 59 years producing the great joys of her life[semiColon] three children[colon] Carolyn Elizabeth Ball, Nannette Louise McDaniel and Dan, Jr.~none~~Louise and Dan came to Buffalo, New York on February 8, 1945 and became members of New Covenant United Church of Christ. Louise directed the choir for many years and served in the Women's Auxiliary. She retired from the Erie County Department of Social Services as Unit Supervisor.~none~~She was a devoted mother and wife. Her accomplishments were numerous during her long life. Some of them are[colon] Dean of Women at Delaware State University, Dover, Delaware[semiColon] Hostess of her own radio program[semiColon] President of Gamma Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority[semiColon] Charter member of Buffalo Chapter of Jack & Jill of America[semiColon] and a life member of the NAACP.~none
