Vera Berry was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She has three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Berry married Jack Berry and had 15 children. She did not complete grade school; however she did attend school, but also had to work.
Mrs. Berry was a housewife and cared for her family by canning foods and vegetables, helping make a garden and raising chickens and cows. She was a volunteer for the Green Thumb Program and worked with the program to help others.
